JUDSON SOFTBALL COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT GAME

Judson Softball Community Spotlight Game

NICOLE SHEDD

Judson Softball | 3/18/2024

Judson Softball would like to introduce some very important members of our community who have been influential with the Judson Softball program. These two individuals have had unique roles and have directly impacted the softball program. The first person we would like to recognize is Converse Fire Chief Luis Valdez. Chief Valdez has worked with the softball program with opportunities of “Community Service” for the Converse community. The softball team has partnered in painting over 100 fire hydrants, volunteered with different community events at the fire station with painting the fire station this past fall, and the Hermann Sons Cemetery cleanup effort across from Judson High School. Chief Valdez has been welcoming in allowing the softball program to work directly with the Converse Fire Department. The partnership that has been built with Chief Valdez and the softball program is something we will strive to carry
on for generations. Thank You Chief Valdez for your service throughout the community and your selfless acts of service. We appreciate you and your fire department! The second person the Judson Softball Program would like to recognize today is retired Judson Athletic Director, Candy Tanner. Candy Tanner came to Judson ISD in 2001 and had a direct influence on the softball program the same year Coach Urbanovsky arrived as the Judson Softball Coach. Coach Tanner was influential with all the athletic
programs when she arrived at Judson being the first female athletic director at JISD. Throughout her career at JISD, she opened doors for other female athletic administrators and broke barriers with women in leadership roles. She retired in 2019 to pursue an opportunity to be a sales rep for BSN Sports. Coach Tanner continues to work with JISD as their rep and works with all of the JISD coaches. Thank you CoachCandy Tanner for being an instrumental part of the foundation of what JUDSON
SOFTBALL is all about. You believed in what we were trying to build, and now we are witnessing the fruits of our labor. Thank you CANDY TANNER for being a difference-maker in JISD! THANK YOU CONVERSE FIRE CHIEF LUIS VALDEZ & CANDY TANNER for your COMMUNITY SERVICE & SERVANT LEADERSHIP to Judson ISD & the Judson Softball Program. WELL DONE!
